Spider-Man: No Way Home star Zendaya reveals what superpower she would like to have in real life. The actress, whose career began in 2011, has already become one of pop culture’s most iconic young performers, amassing nearly 50 credits across film and television since then. One of the projects that she is most known for is the gritty HBO high school drama Euphoria, in which she plays Rue, a young woman who is addicted to drugs and provides the series with its voiceover narration. It was that role that earned Zendaya her first Emmy win in 2020.
Zendaya is also well-known for appearing in big-budget science-fiction and action films, though she is usually a side character without any powers of her own. In Dune: Part One, she has a small role that will be expanded in Part Two opposite Timothée Chalamet as the film’s hero Paul Atreides. She also plays MJ in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man films, serving as the love interest to Tom Holland’s Peter Parker and providing the character with his most level-headed (and sarcastic) counsel.
Recently, Zendaya filmed a video eating various Italian dishes during a break from her cover shoot for Vogue Italia. During the video, she also answered various interview questions, including a common playground classic: “If you could have any superpower, what would it be?” Her answer was that she would like the ability to teleport, because “it would make my job so much easier.” Read her full quote below:
I would like the ability to teleport, because I think it would make my job so much easier.
Be in Rome, like that! Boom! Be in my bed. Tonight!
Starring in the MCU has certainly exposed Zendaya to a wide variety of potential power sets, so the one she chose is rather interesting. Although Nightcrawler’s opening scene in X2: X-Men United proves that the ability of teleportation can certainly be used in an action context, it’s an ability that is less in tune with the superhero world her own MJ character inhabits. This certainly shows that the actress is as level-headed and practical as her character, desiring an ability that would ease her life of constant travel rather than something showy and exciting.
It is currently unclear if the Spider-Man: No Way Home actress will be reprising her role in any upcoming MCU projects. However, given Zendaya’s popularity among the demographics of superhero film audiences, should she wish to star in her own franchise about a young woman with the ability to teleport, she could almost certainly get that project off the ground. If nothing else, it would allow her to break out from the blockbuster sidelines and take her first official lead role since 2021’s low-budget Netflix offering Malcolm & Marie.
