Introduced in Eternals’ mid-credits scene, Starfox is his race’s best candidate for Avengers membership in the MCU. Played by Harry Styles, Eros aka Starfox is the brother of Thanos and the prince of their homeworld, Titan. Looking at the implications of his scene aboard the Domo with Pip the Troll, Starfox is in a position to join forces with the MCU’s Eternals team.
Starfox claiming to be able to help them find the captured Eternals strongly implies that he’ll be a major ally to the group in the future. The implication is that their partnership will play out in Eternals 2, but that may not be the limit of his role in the MCU. After all, Starfox is a cosmic hero who travels all around the galaxy. There’s no reason why he couldn’t cross paths with Captain Marvel, the Guardians of the Galaxy, or Thor in their respective MCU movies. Aside from the possibility of receiving a cameo in an upcoming Phase 4 movie, a different option exists with his character. Starfox has the potential to be on the roster of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in The Avengers 5.
With the MCU being in need of a reshuffled Avengers lineup after the Infinity Saga, it makes sense that Marvel will look to some of the characters added by Phase 4, such as Eternals’ very own Black Knight. As for the Eternals themselves, they too boast some heroes who could become Avengers in the future. The one with the best chance of getting a spot on the roster is Starfox, who was a major member of the team during the mid-1980s. Sersi has Avengers connections as well, but Starfox has better, personal motivations for joining the Avengers. As someone who apparently values his standing as a celebrated hero, becoming an Avenger just feels like something he would want to do in the MCU.
How Eternals presented Starfox is consistent with how he was depicted in the source material. In the 1980s, Starfox had a great sense of adventure, which was ultimately why he sought out the Avengers in the first place. Aware of their reputation, he requested membership with the team, believing that being an Avenger would be a fun and thrilling experience. He also found that saving the world was something he enjoyed. Based on his Eternals introduction, it seems that Styles’ take on Starfox is in line with that portrayal. Pip the Troll listing off his accomplishments and Starfox’s grand entrance suggest that the character revels in his heroics and shares the comic book hero’s thirst for adventure. And since the Avengers proved themselves capable of taking down someone as powerful as Thanos, Starfox could have a serious interest in joining their ranks.
There’s no indication that the same can be said for Kingo, Phastos, Druig, Makkari, or even Sersi. Most have been with fine with staying on the sidelines for so many centuries. Sersi, for instance, clearly cares about humanity, but that doesn’t mean she wants to be a full-time superhero. Starfox, on the other hand, is already on that path. Plus, the idea that he may be motivated by selfish reasons wouldn’t necessarily be a problem for the future he might have with the team. In the comics, he grew fond of the Avengers and succeeded in being a worthwhile addition. If the MCU’s Starfox ever decides to visit Earth, he could wind up following in the footsteps of his comic counterpart.
