Three generations of Spider-Men united in the new movie Spider-Man: No Way Home, and ahead of the film’s release, it was clear just how big the moment would be. Sony had made the decision to hide Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield from all of the film’s marketing, leaving it up to fan speculation whether they would actually show up in the movie. When No Way Home premiered in December, it was an incredible sight to see for Marvel fans when the actors came together for the first time on screen, even though it had long been rumored.
Maguire and Garfield both knew that this was going to be amazing, and they couldn’t help but check out some of the fan reactions for themselves. Garfield recently shared the story of how he snuck into a premiere screening of the film alongside Maguire, unbeknownst to the fans in attendance. A new photo is now circulating on social media from that night with the two actors posing for a photograph outside the theater. They must be happy with the way fans are responding as they’re all smiles in the image.
“I still can’t believe it happened,” Garfield said of sneaking into the movie, per ET Online. “I snuck into a theater on opening night and just watched with my baseball cap on and my mask. In fact, I was also with Tobey, me and Tobey snuck into a theater together and no one knew we were there. It was just a really beautiful thing to share together. And to find a brotherhood with Tobey as well, and with Tom, and the fact that we do share a very unique experience.”
The fan response to the Spider-Returns couldn’t have gone any better. At the end of it, many Marvel fans were left wanting more. It wasn’t long before there were calls to make The Amazing Spider-Man 3 finally happen with Garfield getting the chance to complete his trilogy. Adding the multiverse into the picture also allows for the possibility of Emma Stone returning as well, perhaps even as Spider-Gwen. Several fan art posters have been made imagining what the sequel would be like.
Other fans are also clamoring for Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 4. At one point, Maguire and Raimi were planning to make a fourth Spidey movie with Sony before the project collapsed behind the scenes, getting shelved before it could get started. Catching Maguire back in the suit has reignited fan desires for the fourth movie to happen. This would all be in addition to more Spider-Man movies with Tom Holland, as there are early plans for the 25-year-old actor to return for possibly another film trilogy of his own. In any case, we’re going to be getting plenty of Spider-Man content in the future, but it remains to be seen if we see more of Garfield and Maguire.
Spider-Man: No Way Home is currently playing in movie theaters everywhere.
