VILLAIN HERCULES— ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡ – ✧) (@doubl__) July 8, 2022
Waititi discussed Hercules’ post-credits scene appearance soon after Thor: Love and Thunder was released in theatres. In an interview following the film’s theatrical release, the director revealed that Marvel Studios’ president Kevin Feige pushed for Goldstein’s casting as the Greek hero, saying that he was glad to see the excitement surrounding the Ted Lasso star joining the MCU at the film’s premiere. However, the director was unable to comment on Hercules’ future appearances in the MCU when asked despite his introduction in Love and Thunder, stating that Feige may be the only individual who knows where Hercules’ story will next be explored.
Thor: Love and Thunder further expanded the MCU in many ways, from seeing Thor grow as a character and introducing larger pantheons of gods to the ongoing narrative beyond Waititi’s potential future with Thor 5 the characters. As such, Goldstein’s introduction as Hercules was always certain to make fans excited, not only due to the actor’s role in the celebrated Apple TV+ series but due to the character’s comic-book arc that would see him become an Avenger himself. With fans expressing their joy and enthusiasm for Thor: Love and Thunder‘s first post-credits scene, it is a good sign that Hercules is already on course to become one of the MCU’s most anticipated heroes.
