Matt Reeves’ The Batman reboot receives a Joel Schumacher-style fan poster in anticipation of the film’s release in a couple of months. Reeves, best known for his work on the Planet of the Apes reboot trilogy, is co-writing the upcoming reboot of the Dark Knight’s film franchise with Bad Boys for Life‘s Peter Craig. The duo are taking primary inspiration from the comic book storylines “Year One,” The Long Halloween, Ego and “Zero Year” in an effort to explore the titular hero in his early days of crime fighting and better highlight his skills as the World’s Greatest Detective.
The Batman is specifically set in the second year of Bruce Wayne’s crimefighting tenure as he discovers a deep web of corruption in Gotham City with ties to his family, though his investigation is hampered when a serial killer known as The Riddler begins targeting Gotham elite. Robert Pattinson is leading the cast as the titular hero alongside Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Paul Dano as The Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Jim Gordon, Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth. Following multiple delays in its production and release cycles, The Batman is currently gearing up to hit theaters this March and some fans are expressing their excitement in unique fashions.
With just two months remaining until the film’s release, artist MessyPandas took to Instagram to share a The Batman fan poster. The artwork sees Matt Reeves’ gritty franchise reboot getting the colorful Joel Schumacher treatment in the same vein as Batman Forever. Check out the exciting fan poster below:

Joel Schumacher’s tenure with the Batman franchise is certainly the least-loved by critics and audiences alike but is also one of the more divisive of the bunch. Following Tim Burton’s gothic flair with the Michael Keaton-led films, Warner Bros. hoped to better capitalize on the property’s merchandising potential by transitioning to a brighter tone, bringing in Schumacher for Batman Forever and its follow-up, Batman & Robin. These films have the unique distinction of the quickest turnaround between lead actors, with Val Kilmer electing to depart due to scheduling conflicts with The Saint and George Clooney was brought on instead.
Though a cult following for Schumacher’s films have developed over the years, most have found themselves grateful they paved the way for the better-received Dark Knight trilogy from Christopher Nolan and Matt Reeves’ upcoming film. While it may seemingly be taking the darkest approach to the character yet, The Batman fan poster is sure to come as a nice little nod to the past for many fans of the hero, even pairing it with the lyrics to Seal’s hit “Kiss from a Rose” song from the Batman Forever soundtrack. The wait for Reeves’ reboot is nearly over as the film is set to hit theaters on March 4.
