Ahead of Disney+’s Obi-Wan Kenobi series, an appropriate TikTok of a Star Wars birthday cake recreates Anakin and Obi-Wan’s epic duel on Mustafar. The first time audiences ever saw a lightsaber fight was in 1977 when they went to the theater to see Star Wars (re-branded A New Hope)—which sees Obi-Wan (Alec Guinness) and Darth Vader cross blades aboard the Death Star. The geriatric Jedi Master’s subsequent sacrifice allows him to become one with the Force, thus paving the way for Luke Skywalker’s hero’s journey and his father’s return from the dark side.
In addition to exploring Vader’s origin, the prequel trilogy revolves around the relationship between Anakin (Hayden Christensen) and his mentor, Obi-Wan (Ewan McGregor). Following the death of Qui-Gon Jinn (Liam Neeson), Obi-Wan insists on taking Anakin on as his Padawan to fulfill the promise he made to his own master regarding the “Chosen One.” The duo’s friendship ends in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith following their climactic confrontation on the lava planet Mustafar. That duel ends with Obi-Wan cutting Anakin in two before lamenting on the hope and love the master had for his fallen pupil before leaving him to burn. Obi-Wan and Vader’s fight on Mustafar is as iconic as their rematch on the Death Star.
TikTok user Jaimie Young recently shared a video showing off a Star Wars birthday cake she got for her husband. Set to the Imperial March Theme, the clips shows off the Lego-equipped cake that recreates Anakin and Obi-Wan’s fight on Mustafar in Episode III. The figures even circle around one another as if actually dueling.

It’s quite possible more cake may be on the horizon depicting a previously unknown duel between Obi-Wan and Anakin/Vader. The upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series will feature the return of both McGregor and Christensen. Lucasfilm has hyped another duel between the two. The series is set ten years after the events of Revenge of the Sith and will begin with Obi-Wan on Tatooine. However, given the fact that the Emperor and Vader were unaware of Luke’s existence or Obi-Wan’s tenure on his home planet, the series’ hero will likely leave the planet during its six episodes. That being said, concept art has teased a return to Mustafar, which Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016) revealed became Vader’s home after his former master left him for dead.
Seeing Obi-Wan and Anakin together again in live-action will be deeply satisfying for fans of the prequels. Christensen’s work in the series will likely include flashbacks that will flesh out his character’s relationship with Obi-Wan during The Clone Wars. Whether Christensen’s face will appear beneath Vader’s helmet remains to be seen. In the wake of The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, Obi-Wan Kenobi is perhaps Lucasfilm’s riskiest series yet. The next series will need to enhance the canon in a meaningful way while adhering to the events of A New Hope. Another duel between Obi-Wan and Anakin will change how fans view the one that came before and after. Obi-Wan Kenobi releases on Disney+ on May 25, 2022.
