In the wake of the unprecedented massive global success of Spider-Man: No Way Home, actors Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire, and Andrew Garfield have reunited on the small screen for a new full-length interview. From its original release on December 17, the film has earned an amazing $722 million domestically and nearly $1.7 billion worldwide, becoming the biggest film in the world since MCU’s Avengers: Endgame in 2019. The film famously brought together all three Spider-Man lead actors from each of their respective franchises, into one groundbreaking film. It also featured an ensemble cast of previous Spider-Man villains, with each actor reprising their classic villainous roles.
Spider-Man: No Way Home also has the distinction of currently being the highest rated live-action Spider-Man film of all eight films on Rotten Tomatoes with nearly 400 reviews, and an overall 93% Fresh rating. This year, the Sony and MCU blockbuster is also pursuing one of the greatest honors possible in the film industry, with the film’s teams currently campaigning for a Best Picture nomination at the next Academy Awards ceremony. It is a feat that no other Spider-Man film has accomplished or even attempted to, and an honor that only one comic book film has ever previously reached.
With the Spider-Man: No Way Home Oscar campaign now in full swing, the official Spider-Man YouTube channel has now released a new interview with all three Spider-Man actors as they speak about the film together on video for the first time. Garfield, who famously denied being involved in the film in countless other interviews leading up to the film’s release, happily joined Holland and Maguire in discussing the film. The actors shared their thoughts on the film’s incredible success and reactions from fans, along with their thoughts on past and future films in the multiple cinematic Spider-Man universes. Check out the interview below:
In the over 30-minute interview, all three actors shared their deep admiration for one another, not unlike how their Spider-Man counterparts also did together in the Spider-Man: No Way Home film. The sentiments were clear, with each actor expressing their feelings of camaraderie with comments such as “I follow Tobey to the ends of the Earth. I’m a lemming for Tobey” from Garfield. And Holland ruminated on the whole experience being “One of the most special moments I’ll have in my career.” Maguire also added his own appreciation for the Spider-Man union, as he remarked that “I think it’s a testament to these guys that it went the way that it went, which was a brotherhood, which is just beautiful.”
The respect and chemistry between the three actors undoubtedly showed on screen, and fans around the world have clearly resonated with the experience, as the film has become a cultural phenomenon. A feat that is especially more impressive considering everything that the film has accomplished in the midst of the ongoing COVID pandemic that is still affecting the world. Many have also unsurprisingly expressed their desire to see Garfield and Maguire return to the big screen again as their Spider-Man characters, whether it is in their own films, or as part of larger ensembles. Rumors have circulated that Maguire may make an appearance in the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness film that is being helmed by original Spider-Man franchise director, Sam Raimi. Meanwhile, many fans seem to be demanding the return of Garfield in the would-be third entry of his Amazing Spider-Man franchise.
